Production and Inventory Clerk

The core responsibilities of the position include:

  • Preparation of all inventory, debtors & creditors movement schedules and accounting entries
  • Validating material costs & material receipts, making provisions
  • Reconciliation of invoices for the purchase of raw materials and scrap
  • Submission of payment requests for raw material purchases
  • Review, analysis and reconciliation of inventory and scrap general ledger accounts
  • Assistance with the interim and year-end inventory counts
  • Assistance with the preparation of VAT reconciliations and returns
  • Preparation of schedules required for monthly management accounts and reporting
  • Support with internal and external audits
  • Assistance with queries and analysis of raw materials and inventory
  • Liaise with the creditors, planning and other departments as required
  • Ad hoc tasks as and when required


  • Matric and progress towards an accounting qualification
  • Experience in a finance department in a manufacturing or FMCG environment
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision to meet tight deadlines
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Computer literacy, with strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Understanding of management accounting and costing principles will be an added advantage.
