Senior Reliability Technician
The core responsibilities include:
- Critical analysis of systems and their performance to eliminate repetitive defects and to enhance overall asset reliability
- Solid knowledge of maintenance strategies, and their implementation.
- To identify, investigate, motivate, and implement changes related to the safe and effective performance of the various machine centers
- To work closely with the Maintenance Planner to ensure that equipment reliability aspects are “locked” into the various machine checks and inspections
- To aid as required to the first line maintenance team especially in the event of significant breakdowns and play an active management role during maintenance outages, assisting the Maintenance Co-ordinator in managing the shut workload
- To maintain a level of expertise associated with ensuring that equipment / system obsolescence issues are dealt with timeously.
- Complete Failure analyses on all breakdown and planned corrective maintenance
- Generates a monthly top ten failures report and action plan to rectify
- Does RCM analyses on problem areas and proposes Preventative or Predictive MaintenanceSchedules
- Identifies training needs and Training providers to improve the skill base, mentor apprentices or trainee Technicians
- Analyse Failures and compile data to Focus on repeat problems Design out problems
- To advise on equipment/software etc that would assist in executing their function.
- Project manage small projects related to their investigations
- Remains in touch with technology and advise on possible improvements with current systems.
- Performs a Standby duty in the plant to ensure that downtime is managed and minimised.
- Performs Incident Investigations and completes the required documentation and notifications.
The required competencies and abilities include:
- Minimum requirement is a National Diploma in Engineering, preferably a B-tech or Degree in Engineering.
- 5-10 years’ experience post qualification.
- Root cause and fault-finding experience
- Knowledge of manufacturing principles.
- Equipment capability and maintenance knowledge and experience.
- Excellent computer, report writing and presentation skills.
- Be able to plan outages in line with maintenance strategy.
- Clear leadership qualities with the ability to co-ordinate maintenance tasks, shutdowns, and project work
- The ability to work in a manufacturing team and interface with all members
of the team
- A proactive and solid work ethic.
- Knowledge of Maximo CMMS will be added advantage
